The singing of the grouse male resembles the sound of a spring drip. A bizarre ritual of courtship, called courtship display, takes place on the so-called courtship display places. During mating games, in order to show rivals and females (spectators) who is better, the male spreading his wings, importantly paces, often turns and makes strange sounds. The courtship display consists of two phases - first, the grouse can still hear you, but when the second comes, it lifts its head high and starts singing with all its power. At these moments the bird absolutely justifies its species name, because becomes deaf.

Photo hunting for the largest forest bird is not so simple at wedding time - he has an excellent ear. Hearing the slightest rustle, the grouse immediately flings out from the ground and flies away from the dangerous place.

The wood grouse belongs to the family of Pheasant. It is the largest representative of the family, the weight of an adult bird reaches 5 kg. The female wood grouse is much smaller; its color is lighter, more variegated. The wood grouse is a polygamous bird; it does not have a pair. Having fulfilled their marriage duty, the males climb into the densest areas of the forest, where they start to molt. The female takes care of the offspring completely. The grouse is a caring and fearless mother, and a wonderful actor - seeing the threat, the female pretends to be wounded in order to attract the predator's attention to herself.
